Join us for our Yoga by the Sea classes, offered year-round (weather permitting), where you can immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the North Yorkshire coastline. These 45-minute outdoor flow sessions are designed to help you reconnect with nature, unwind, and cultivate mindfulness as you practice in a stunning setting.

Our Yorkshire Coast Yoga experience brings the calming sounds of the waves and the fresh sea breeze directly to your practice, creating an environment like no other. We have regular classes in Sandsend, Whitby, Scarborough, Cayton Bay & Filey.  Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, these sessions are open to all and a perfect way to deepen your connection to both body and nature.

This summer, take your yoga practice to the next level with SUP Yoga – a unique way to connect with the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside and coast while challenging your muscles in a whole new way. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or new to both yoga and paddleboarding, our SUP Yoga classes offer something for everyone.

What is SUP Yoga?


Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) yoga combines the tranquility of yoga with the calm, refreshing waters of the Yorkshire coast. It’s a full-body workout that enhances balance, strength, and flexibility, all while surrounded by stunning natural beauty. It’s not just a class—it’s an experience!

​What to Expect:


We provide everything you need for your SUP Yoga session, including a yoga-specific paddleboard and paddle. The only thing you need to bring is your wetsuit—just in case you take an unexpected dip! Don’t have your own wetsuit? No worries! You can easily hire one from most of the local surf schools.

​

When you join us for a SUP Yoga class, we’ll begin with a brief introduction to the equipment and a quick refresher on paddle technique and self-rescue methods. This ensures you feel confident and safe before we paddle out to the perfect spot. Once we’ve anchored up, your yoga practice will begin, guided by our experienced instructor, Helen.

After class, we’ll paddle back to shore, completing a relaxing yet invigorating experience that lasts around 90 minutes.

Your Instructor:


Helen, your instructor for SUP Yoga, has completed specialist SUP Yoga teacher training and is a qualified WSA SUP Instructor. She also holds the WSA SUP Safety & Rescue qualification and is a certified SLSGB Surf Lifeguard, so you’re in safe hands. With her expertise, you can enjoy your session with peace of mind and focus on your practice.

Indoor Classes

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
​

Our Vinyasa Flow classes are designed to link breath with movement in a fluid, dynamic sequence of postures. As you flow from one pose to the next, you'll build strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. Vinyasa is perfect for those who love to move, challenge their bodies, and cultivate a sense of balance and focus. Expect an energizing practice that helps you develop both physical and mental resilience.

Yin Yoga

In contrast, our Yin Yoga classes focus on a slower, more meditative approach. By holding seated and floor postures for 3-5 minutes, Yin yoga targets the body’s deep connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. This practice is ideal for releasing tension, improving flexibility, and encouraging relaxation. Yin yoga offers a restorative experience that complements more active forms of exercise.

Class Schedule

We currently offer four indoor classes per week at two locations in Scarborough and Whitby:

  • Monday 7:30-8:30pm – Vinyasa Flow at Scarborough Buddhist Centre

  • Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm – Vinyasa Flow at Whitby Flowergate Hall

  • Wednesday 6:15-7:15pm – Vinyasa Flow at Scarborough Buddhist Centre

  • Wednesday 7:30-8:30pm – Yin Yoga at Scarborough Buddhist Centre.​

6-Week Beginners Yoga Courses

If you're new to yoga or looking to refresh your practice, our 6-week Beginners Yoga Courses are the perfect way to start your journey. These specially designed courses will introduce you to the fundamentals of yoga in a welcoming and supportive environment. Over the course of six weeks, you'll build a strong foundation in both physical postures and breathwork, helping you feel confident in joining our regular classes.

  • When: Mondays from 6:15-7:00pm

  • Duration: 6 weeks

  • Location: Scarborough Buddhist Centre

Our experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of yoga, offering personal attention to ensure you understand the key movements and alignment. These sessions are ideal for complete beginners, but also great if you want to revisit the basics and deepen your understanding of the practice.
